One year with the possibility of an extension to two years
The Watts Gallery seeks a Curatorial Fellow. The post is a unique training position for those who want to develop their career in Museums and Galleries. The postholder will work with the Curator of Watts Gallery, Mark Bills, a 19th century scholar and curator, to support all the curatorial activities including collections management, exhibitions, research, display and interpretation. Candidates must be well motivated and able to work on multiple tasks in a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will have a Masters Degree in either Museum Studies or History of Art and Design and at least two years’ experience of working or volunteering in museums or galleries.
Watts Gallery in Compton has just re-opened after a major restoration project to critical acclaim. It first opened to the public on 1 April 1904 as a gallery devoted to the art of G. F. Watts OM RA (1817-1904), a permanent exhibition of his art for whoever wished to see it, enshrining the vision of art for all.
