Call for Artists for Les Commandos Percu Project

Posted on Nov 25th 2011, 15:27

Lakes Alive has invited French masters of pyrotechnics and percussion to work with British performers to create a brand new open-air show, ‘On the Night Shift’.

We’re looking for 8 professional drummers and 4 contemporary dancers based in the Northwest, Northeast or Yorkshire to work on this exciting and unprecedented, large-scale project.

‘On the Night Shift’ will combine the hallmarks of Les Commandos Percu (link to website) - specially designed instruments and pyro fired by the musicians as they play - with the special skills you can bring to the project.

The show will be developed over four residential workshop and rehearsal sessions leading up to the premiere on mid-summer’s day - June 21st 2012. The premiere will take place on the shores of Lake Windermere for the opening night of the London 2012 Festival following the celebration of the arrival of the Olympic Torch.

For the first introductory workshop we will pay reasonable travel expenses and provide meals and (where required) accommodation for all participants. For successful applicants, further rehearsal sessions will be paid at £125 per day (amd subsequent performances at £200) plus travel, meals and accommodation as above.
