Without funds and no destination artist Adriano Digaudio is to spend the next few weeks hitchhiking around the UK. Armed with nothing but an immense faith in Britains general public, the final year art student commenced his journey yesterday from Manchester. The aim of his expedition is simple: to meet as many people as possible.
Adriano is relying on the generosity of the British public to facilitate his journey by asking people to contribute to his journey, ‘If you are following my progress or location and can offer transport, food, accommodation even a chat, get in touch. I am completely open minded and willing to exchange my time for your generosity, the more varied the journey the better’.
On his first day the ardent adventurer managed to make his way to Sheffield and is hoping to get to Leeds before the day ends. Adriano admits that his scheme is a daring one, ‘While this is exciting, its very scary too! But its an adventure and I love the unknown of it all’.
Adriano’s simple aim in gathering support will shape his journey, his blog reads, ‘I hope to gain your support, whether that means I meet you on my travels or you simply follow my progress on this blog, Facebook or Twitter’.
The artist will be using his blog to record his progress throughout the project. Those who help or support Adriano will automatically become part of the project, stating ‘whether I meet you by chance or you invite me to visit, everyone I encounter will become part of this work.’
