British Airways are offering the chance to win mentoring from Tracey Emin and winning artwork to be applied to their airplanes.

British Airways are currently inviting submissions for their major national competition. The competition named Great Britons, offers the chance for one artist to have their work applied to a selection of British Airways planes. The airliners will be completed in time to welcome aboard the hoards of Olympic spectators anticipated for the games of 2012.

The winning artist will witness teams of engineers and painters apply their design to 12 of the world’s most expensive passenger airliners. As part of the winning package the artist will also receive mentoring from Turner Prize artist, Tracey Emin.

The Competition website asks prospective candidates if they are able to come up with a design to, ‘Welcome the world to London 2012’, the winning piece will provide ‘A unique piece of art that represents the spirit of the Games in Britain. We want you to create a design that inspires people around the world. Let your imagination run free.'
